The Italian Actors Union was founded in 1937. Through the years it has experienced many transitions as other theatrical unions and guilds emerged and jurisdictions were juggled. The IAU is now also recognized as GIAA. Never has there been a more exciting time in the history of the union. GIAA is committed to helping Advance, Promote, Foster and Protect the welfare of its members not only within its own jurisdiction but with the jurisdictions of its sister unions. Additionally GIAA serves the purpose of preserving the history and awareness of Italian Heritage amongst its members.
